What side effects can this medication cause?

Possible side effects from using gemfibrozil include:

upset stomach
nausea
vomiting

Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

indigestion
headache, dizziness, or drowsiness
decreased sex drive

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, face or hives)
chest pain
shortness of breath
irregular heartbeat
nausea
vomiting
stomach pain  
clay-colored stools
yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
rash or itching
sores in the mouth or on your lips
swollen legs or feet
chills, fever, or blood in the urine
muscle aches, pain, or cramps
